CUFSAE and Koyo Bearings by Jtekt Group, have joined forces for the 2011-2012 Formula SAE racing season. An industry leader in bearing technology, and located at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research campus, Koyo was a natural fit for supporting the team. Koyo Bearings designs high performance bearings for a myriad of applications ranging from industrial to automotive powertrain. After last years lackluster bearing performance, we will be proud to install some new Koyo bearings on the 2012 CUFSAE racecar. We are pleased to officially announce our annual Adopt-A-CC Donation Drive! Each year we look to our fans and supporters for help with making our car one of the best Formula SAE cars at the upcoming competition. This year, we are in need of several important items, and we need your help to get them. Any donation is appreciated, and can come in any form including: money, office supplies, scrap materials, old racing equipment, etc. Specifically, this year, our driver safety gear will be out-of-date at the competition in May. New fire safety gear for our drivers will keep our drivers safe in the event of an accident. Help us to keep our drivers safe this year, by donating to the Adopt-A-CC program. Any and all support is greatly appreciated and helps us to come one step closer to achieving our goal of finishing in the top ten at the Formula SAE Michigan competition.
Classes began for the spring semester here at Clemson yesterday. When the team left for the holidays, the chassis construction was nearing completion because of the welding skill of alumni team member, Michelle Phillips. With the return of our teammates for the spring semester, the car should progress rapidly, and despite the loss of several members to their co-ops, we have gained some old team members who had been on co-op assignment in the Fall. As the car progresses we will be adding and updating a Shop Pictures album in the Media section of our website.
It’s been a great semester at CUFSAE, and we’ve made a lot of progress towards next year’s competition. The chassis is being welded together, and the CAD models are almost entirely complete. We’re looking forward to returning to work in January, and hope you will check back often. We will be updating website over the course of the next month, and also keeping up with our Facebook Page and Twitter Profile! Have a great holiday!
